Stain Guide: Dirt
This is a 4th generation dry cleaner's guide for removing a dirt stain!
What you need

Washing or baking soda
Steps

If the stain is still wet, allow it to dry.

Wipe or gently brush away any physical bits of the remaining stain.

Create a paste of equal parts water and washing or baking soda. Work this solution into the stain.

Allow this pretreatment to sit on the stain for 15 minutes.

Add ¼ cup of washing or baking soda to the drum of your washing machine and wash as recommended on the care label.

Inspect before drying. If the stain was removed, dry as recommended on the care label. If not, repeat steps 3 through 5.
The scientists working on the Manhattan project can be credited with this stain removal process! These scienentists were having an extremely difficult time removing the uranium dust from their clothing as laundry detergent was not cutting it. They eventually figured out that baking soda and washing soda broke up the metallic bonds between radioactive dust and their clothing.
