Stain Guide: Grease

This is a 4th generation dry cleaner's guide for removing a grease stain!

What you need
  • Dish soap or laundry detergent
  • Water
  • Bowl to mix the ingredients
  • Cleaning brush (optional but helpful)
Steps
  1. Mix a solution of 2 or 3 drops of dish soap or laundry detergent and warm water. Work this solution into the stain and tamp it in with the brush.
  2. Allow the pretreatment to sit on the stain for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Wash as recommended on the care label.
  4. Inspect before drying. If you dry a grease stain with heat, you may “set” the stain, which will make it much harder to remove. If the stain was removed, dry as recommended on the care label; If not, repeat step 1 and allow the pretreatment to sit on the stain overnight prior to rewashing.
  5. Rewash on a warm or high water temperature.
