Stain Guide: Red Wine

This is a 4th generation dry cleaner's guide for removing a red wine stain!

What you need
  • Cleaning vinegar (at least 20%), but regular cooking vinegar (5%) will work too
  • Powdered oxygen bleach or 3% hydrogen peroxide
Steps
  1. Rinse the stain with cold water as soon as possible.
  2. Treat the stained area with enough cleaning vinegar to cover the stain for 1 hour. If you do not have cleaning vinegar, you can use distilled white vinegar 5%, but it will be less effective. The solution should turn the color of the wine.
  3. Wash as recommended on the care label.
  4. Inspect before drying. If the stain was removed, dry as recommended on the care label; if not, follow the instructions below.
  5. Soak the stained garment in hot water and powdered oxygen bleach overnight OR spray the garment with 3% hydrogen peroxide and allow it to air-dry.
  6. Rewash and inspect before drying.

This is a dry cleaners guide to removing red wine stains. Here is what you need: Cleaning vinegar (cooking will do if that’s all you have), hydrogen peroxide OR powdered oxygen bleach, and some patience 1) Rinse the stain with warm water. 2) Soak the stain with cleaning vinegar and allow it to sit for an hour. The red wine should transfer into the vinegar. 3) Wash as recommended by the care label. 4) Spray 3% HP on the entire garment and let it air dry OR 5) Soak the garment in hot water and powdered oxygen bleach overnight 6) Rewash Oxygen bleach is also known as color safe bleach or non chlorine bleach. It takes lots of time to work so be patient! I do hope this guide helps, happy cleaning 😊 #redwinestain #stain #removewinestain #winestain #laundry #laundryhacks #laundrytips #stainremoval
